When do babies get their first bath?

Hello, when do babies typically get their first bath at home and how often? How often should  their hair be washed with shampoo?

We waited until the cord fell out and used baby soap maybe once a week otherwise just water

Before the cord came off a warm water wipe down every night and once off, bath every night.  Little guy knows that bath means the sleep that comes after it is the long one and he’s been an amazing sleeper since birth.  I’m convinced having that que that it’s night time with warm water and then a
Big massage with lotion all over is a huge part of that.  And, he loves it!

From what I remember the first week or 2 I was too depressed with baby blues to give baby a bath but had I been in good mental health I would have given him a bath right away 
I'm due in August and my plan is while he's in the hospital to get the hospital pan they provide and give him a bath as a form of bonding with him (but even with my first until the chord fell off and his belly button closed I sponge bathed him)

We waited a long time, at least a week with my first. We joked he had been eating spaghetti because he had some crusties. My 2nd was born in the pool so he was really clean lol They were born at home so nobody wiped them down or anything.

My first was bathed in hospital on day two. My second and third I bathed at home once out of hospital which with 3rd was 3 days later after PPH and with my throes 16 hours later. I bathed him the next morning. Babies were born in the Middle of summer in Australia so I like to keep them clean and fresh as we reach 40+ (100+ f)

Bath only when cord has fallen off. Before that gentle damp washcloth cleaning without getting cord wet only. Then every parent is different - could be a daily bath down to only once a week. Personally I like the butt to be immersed regularly at least because of the constant poop and pee on it. If I was pooping and peeing in a diaper, I wouldn’t feel like I was taking care of my skin with just wipes and feel the same about baby’s! But there’s not right or wrong there as long as baby is clean and skin is healthy.

Once umbilical cord falls completely off. I gave my little man a bath about every 2-3 days. Washed what hair he had each bath. He loved baths since birth and still does.

I didn’t give the first bath until about a week after her umbilical cord fell off. I did use a wet wash cloth if needed before that for milk dribble or spit up.
Babies only need a bath with soap 1-2 times a week. 
My girl still only get a soap bath 1-2 times a week at 10.5 months old!
