Mongolian spots?

Question

Did/does anyones baby have what looks like bruising around baby’s lower back and bottom/butt area?
My baby is 5 weeks and all of a sudden has a blue/gray butt and lower back…his skin is bluish. No other symptoms and it doesn’t bother him. I’ve googled it and it looks to be what’s called Mongolian spots but I’m not 100 percent sure there isn’t more to it. 
Anyone experience it and if so, should I call his doctor or is it not a big deal?

Bluish skin is never a good sign! I would definitely call the doctor to stay safe.

My son has a Mongolian spot near his butt crack. When he was a newborn it was blue/green and looked like a big bruise. I was so paranoid and then went to his 2 month appt and our pedi said they’re very common in Latin cultures. I actually have one near my ankle i had no clue about until i asked her and she confirmed it was Mongolian. She said sometimes they go away on their own but nothing to worry about. You know it’s a Mongolian if you push on it and the color doesn’t change.

My son is almost 4 and still has a bit of his Mongolian spot! It's totally normal, it freaked me out too when I first noticed 😅

My son has one. It’s near his butt. The doctor said it’s normal in children with darker complexions. It hasn’t went away yet, and he is 21 months.

It’s normal and will go away when baby is older. My last daughter had them when she was a baby and she’s 2 now and they haven’t fully went away yet
