Was I right to be mad about the EMS workers?

My boyfriend has a congenital heart defect, and it causes his brain to not receive the oxygen it needs so it causes him to have very severe seizures. Anytime he has seizure it can kill him because it strains his heart. (He’s on kepra but it doesn’t always work) he told me from day one, “if I have a seizure you have to call 911 immediately.”

So, he had a seizure and I called 911 and told them all of this. The fire station and ems is LITERALLY around the corner. They could jump the fence and be at my house.

25 minutes I sat there in the bathroom floor with my boyfriend begging them to hurry because this can kill him. I explained over and over how serious this was and that he could die. Another 10 minutes passes, this is a very severe seizure and his body had just then started to calm down.

They get there after the worst part was over. The worst part being him turning purple and gray and white pale, foaming at the mouth as I sat there on the phone with dispatch telling me they were coming. I was crying on the phone with them like please come I am begging you to tell them we cannot sit here and wait.

When they arrived they were really just… it was like they were BOTHERED. They said “why is he having a seizure.” And I said “he has a heart condition.”

The guy said “sure, a ‘heart condition’” like he was mocking me? and I was like uh yeah he literally just have a valve transplant 6 months ago. His seizures can actually kill him because of his heart. I called for a reason and thought this information would be known??? I told them to not give him a certain seizure med bc it can kill him due to his heart problem and they rolled their eyes. Like dude I am giving you information so that you don’t accidentally kill your patient. Oh my god.

It was like they didn’t care. God they were so rude to me for no reason.

It didn’t hit me until later speaking with his friends that they’ve all dealt with medical personnel thinking he’s a drug addict.

They also sat in my driveway with him inside the ambulance for an hour, and told me “we’re just trying to find a hospital to pawn him off to.” I was like he’s a human being who’s very sick not a fucking pet or something to “pawn off.” Wtf???

I know someone who’s husband works there. I called him and I was like listen, your guys are fucking assholes. I will NOT forget sitting in my bathroom floor with my seizing boyfriend worrying if I’m watching him die because it took them 35 minutes to get to me and then treated me like shit when they did get there.

Im going through you first but if that shit happens again I fully plan to raise hell, because I communicated many times just how serious this was to dispatch and to EMS and this wasn’t okay.

Then next time he had a seizure (this seizure was not as severe thank god) they were there in less than five minutes. Completely professional, kind, and informative.

Tell me if I’m crazy. Like I don’t want to just be this asshole freaking out on people, I’ve never done this before

So check me before I wreck shit if this ever happens again

Alright yall who do I call to snitch them out. Because I already told on them to someone above them but y’all are making me wanna stir the pot because this was life and death but I don’t know who to go to to file the complaint

It took them 35 mins to respond from the time I called not 10. And I wasn’t mean to them, I was crying because this scared me to death. I didn’t understand why I was met so rudely especially when I answered the question as to why he has seizures
