Sensitive Kids?
The screen time conversation made me think to ask this here. My March boy has been very aware of the “scary” parts in shows. For example, he likes Dino ranch but for a long time didn’t want to watch the episode with the big dinosaur chasing the kids. We watched the Disney Junior Spider-Man on the plane yesterday and he was wrapped around me when the “bad guy” was on. Recently, though, he has also gotten really sad during movies. We went and saw his first movie at the theater cause they show kids movies in the summer for $2 and the movie was Clifford. He wasn’t a huge fan of the experience but when the little girl was saying goodbye to Clifford and started crying, he BURST into tears. Yesterday he was watching the paw patrol movie on the plane (which I didn’t preview because it’s paw patrol) and all of a sudden tears are running down his cheeks. I don’t know what was happening because I couldn’t hear the movie but the cartoon dog faces looked sad. I don’t think I’ve never known a three year old to have such emotional reactions to movies. Do other kids do this?! I feel so bad cause he seems so upset but, turns out, it’s really hard to find kids movies that don’t have something a little “scary” or a little “sad.” And I tried to convince him to skip the sad part but he didn’t want to.
