If I don’t buy certain genticic tests for ultrasound will they still notice those anomalies IF baby has it?

So this might be a dumb question but I had my 20 week ultrasound and the doctor called back and told me everything looks good. 
However, I did not buy the testing for autism and stuff. When I said no to the testing (insurance only covers one of the tests) 
She said “ok so you’ll be okay with however he comes out?” And I said yeah but does that mean if they see anything they won’t tell me because I didn’t buy the testing? So sorry if this is a dumb question. Like the trisomy testing? 
I was kinda confused that she said that? Like yes of course I’ll still love my baby if he has autism or something but if I don’t pay for those tests I won’t know until the birth?

If they see something on the ultrasound, they have to tell you it’s not an option for them..  please be aware that these genetic tests do not check for autism though because that is not possible. They check for chromosomal abnormalities such as Down’s syndrome, trisomy etc…. Just because you don’t want to do the genetic testing, doesn’t mean if they do find something that they won’t tell you. It seems like your baby is perfect and they didn’t find anything on your anatomy scan. We did genetic testing with our first and she was low risk for everything, I’m pregnant again but we are not getting the genetic testing this time. We have none of those abnormalities on either side of our family and we’re comfortable with not doing it this time around.

There isn’t a genetic test for autism. Regardless, they will tell you if they see anything concerning on the ultrasound, but it will likely be far less specific than if they has the test results to refer to 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well an ultrasound can't show any disorder that isn't physical so they wouldn't know just from an ultrasound. They tell you everything theu can see.

The genetic tests are actually genetic screenings. Genetic testing would be something like CVS or amniocentesis. The ultrasounds may give markers which are not always accurate which is why the couple it with the blood work. If they see something they have to tell you. But there is always a possibility for anyone that even if all the screenings came back good/low/normal babe can have an after-birth diagnosis. Plenty of people deny the genetic screenings for various reasons

The genetic testing (blood test generally) picks up genetic defects (not autism). The anatomy scan can’t pick up genetic defects, put they check all parts of the baby’s anatomy - heart, brain, limbs etc. while they can see some signs that your child may have some birth defects (there can be visible signs for Down syndrome as an example) but it’s not as accurate as the genetic testing.
If they had any concerns though, they would have offered further testing

Honestly, I didn't have it with my first 3 and my last baby I ended up having it done because I was talked into it by the high risk dr. Because they supposedly for abnormalities. It was the worst waiting for the results knowing Nothing was going to change my mind about having baby. I kinda felt stupid after telling myself I would never do that again. 
If your high risk, have family on either side that have abnormalities then it might make sense. If that matters. I have friends that had generic testing done before kids to see if they were compatible due to a history on her side. Risks vs. Benefits.

They will tell you anything they see at the anatomy scan.  But I have no idea why they’d tell you they can test for autism😅 I’d be hightailing out of there to another practice.  I guess that’s another story.
