How do you keep your pets cool during an outage?
We just had a storm at 6 this afternoon and a tree fell and knocked out the power in the entire area. It's 90 degrees. So our fans are off. We had ac but we just took that out because lots of bugs were getting in the open gap at the top of the window and plan to get something else when I get paid Friday.
I've only had a few minor outages since having my dog and the power always comes back on by the end of the day. We had central air and patio doors so the house would be cool for a bit. Down here it won't be back on by 4pm tomorrow is what dte says. Opening windows is a given but just want other options. As my dog hasn't had to experience this before.
Anyway, normally I take my dog to the lake, hose him down, ice cubes or frozen plain greek yogurt with blueberry cubes etc. He would lay under the fan up until a few hours ago when the power went off. When we did have ac which was just up until a day ago he would lay near that as well. My sister also has a maine coon cat. I have a miniature husky (only half Siberian) but takes on the husky look lol and he's been panting very hard and fast. Cat seems fine but I've been keeping both of their water bowls filled.
We've been outside and since it's cooled down its helped him a lot. I just refilled the ice before the power went out so I know that's not frozen. What other ideas can I do? I've been keeping the front and back doors open to let in some cool air. I was going to cool him off in the tub tonight but I have to work from 8-4 tomorrow and nervous about leaving them in the hot house.

Edit: Thank you for all of the tips. Power came on sometime between 2am and 4am. I was able to head to work with no worries. I'll definitely be better prepared next time.
