No, not necessarily. I have Endometriosis and PCOS. Endometriosis has to be diagnosed through laparoscopic surgery while PCOS can be diagnosed in clinic with testing.

I have both as well. There is not as much testing around "normal" for females as most medical research has gone to middle age white males. Especially since endometriosis can only be discovered by surgery, it probably goes undiagnosed in a LOT of women. I've heard many stories of women not knowing they had it until they get a hysterectomy. A lot of women never know they have PCOS either until they have issues getting pregnant or another issue. I wouldn't know I had either except that my IUD was inserted improperly in my endocervix. I didn't think anything of it until my sister, who just had a baby completely natural, said it looked like I needed her pain meds. We didn't discover my endometriosis until my doctor got concerned that I was still getting a heavy (slightly in comparison) painful cycle every month with the IUD. I just thought I was being a wimp about my cycles like my mom always said. I was relieved to know there was a reason my cycles were so much worse than my mom and sister's.

Not too rare. ~8-10% of pcos patients have endo. I also have both and would have never known about my endo without my laparoscopy. Never suspected as my symptoms were also "in line with my pcos diagnosis."
