I'm 38 weeks and today's earlier today I noticed a very thick long mucus string like discharge and experienced same a few moments ago. Is this the mucus plug?

Is it clear in person like it looks in the picture? If so, then not mucus plug. The plug is an off white/yellowish color when it is coming out in bits and is bloody toward the end when you lose the whole thing.

No mucus plug will have color to it like a yellowish brownish or some blood and usually comes out in much larger chunks.
