is he throwing me off?

so my bf took me ring shopping (this was all his idea, not mine) and we had a great time together - felt so much joy. He was seeing which shapes I liked the most, asking about pricing with the jeweler, seeing what my top three were, went into multiple stores, etc… it was really enjoyable…

BUT then, the other night he hits me with, “I’m not ready to get married yet” and “I don’t want you to think I’m proposing to you when we go on our trip…” blah blah blah. And, I asked him, “why would you take me ring shopping if you’re not ready yet? And, I wish you would’ve just not said anything at all…” then he goes, “maybe I bought a ring, maybe I didn’t but I’m just not ready for that yet” and I was like “okay…? I wish you wouldn’t have taken me ring shopping then if you weren’t ready” and he says, “I had a great time ring shopping and I wanted to do that to see what to get in the future”

… is he throwing me off or is he being serious because I am SO confused and I’m not going to lie, him saying that did bum me out especially when I’m on my period too 😅 emotional overload
