What to do after a bfp?

I’m curious about How long after getting ur bfp did u guys schedule a doctor visit, and how many weeks u were at ur first ultrasound?

I called immediately and they scheduled me for a possible 8wk appt since I have irregular periods and didn’t know the date of my last one. I had an trans v ultrasound at that appointment in case I wasn’t 8wks yet and I turned out to be exactly 8wks on the dot. Was told my next ultrasound would be 18-20wks for the gender and growth progress. 😊

1st pregnancy- tested positive at 4 weeks and I think I had my first appointment at like 6 weeks because I was 15 years old. I had my first ultrasound at 16 weeks but unfortunately miscarried soon after that
2nd and 3rd were early miscarriages so I just had check ups to make sure I passed everything
4th pregnancy- tested positive with my daughter at 5 weeks and had a appointment scheduled at 8 weeks with a fertility specialist to confirm just because I was doing fertility treatments and then I had my first actual appointment at 10 weeks. My first ultrasound was at 18+3
5th pregnancy- With my boy who is my current pregnancy I tested positive at 3+2 and had my orientation into OB at 6 weeks to confirm pregnancy and then had my first appointment and ultrasound at 11+2

For where I am, once you have a positive test you just self refer yourself to the hospital and they then arrange your first appointment. First scan at 12wks ☺️

I immediately called my primary doctor so that I could get blood work done. I also had to get a referral for ob per my insurance. Then I was able to be seen by ob around 9 weeks and that’s when they did their viability/dating scan.

I called the week after I got my positive just because I was scared of having another loss, but you can call right away. Chances are they will be pretty booked up and will want to get you on the schedule. I didn’t go in for my first appointment/ultrasound until I was 8 weeks.

you can call once you have a positive test, every practice is different, most won’t see you until 8-10 weeks, but it can take a few weeks to get an appointment. Some do a dating ultrasound before that but not all. 
The office I go to always has me come in right away for a confirmation appointment, which is just a urine sample, and if you aren’t up to date on your pap they will do one and a gonnorhea/chlamydia test. After that they schedule your first OB appointment for 10ish weeks, they generally do not do a dating ultrasound unless you have a history of miscarriage.
