Child support?

I tried posting in the divorce section but no response. 
I got served with divorce papers 1 month ago exactly. A couple weeks after he illegally closed our joint bank account and has now said until things are done he will write me a check for x amount a month. 
I told my lawyer and she noted it saying some statue. 
He is calling it "child support"  how van that be child support if I'm still legally entitled to OUR money?

Make sure you have documentation from the bank of how much was in that account at the time he closed it. You’ll need it for court later. He can call the money he’s “giving” you whatever he wants. The court will determine what it is and if it was sufficient. If it is illegal to close your joint account where you are the the judge will likely not count it or will say fine that was child support (if it’s the right amount based in his income) but that he still owes you half of your marital assets including what was in your account.

I’m no lawyer, but usually stuff like that can’t be done once a divorce is initiated. 
What exactly did your lawyer say? If she’s not doing anything about it, there’s either more to this story and there’s a reason he’s allowed to do that, or you need a new lawyer.

So as long as he was one of the names on the account he is fully able to withdraw everything and close it without your having to be there. At least with my bank that's how it is. So it isn't technically "illegal". As long as he is giving you money for the child, it IS considered child support. I know this because my SO just went through this with his custody battle. Ex Wife tried saying he'd never supported the kids and he had proof of sending her money through cashapp every month and paying her bills and the judge had to explain that that's exactly what that was.

Get documentation and everythings and give it to your attorney. Because legally your entitled to half of that money, unless you prove more than half of it was contributed by you during the marriage
