Trouble breastfeeding (6 days old)

At first he wouldn’t latch. Then he wouldn’t stay awake. & Now, he just won’t do it. He sucks for a minute & then wails. I tried different positions, switching breasts, making him more comfortable, making him slightly uncomfortable (to keep him awake). I just don’t know what to do. Any advice? Until I can get him to take to the breast, I’ve been pumping to feed him, but Im afraid that’s going to make it worse. I didn’t know this would be so hard. I talked with a lactation consultant who said to try supplementing with a syringe, hand expression before, & a couple other things but none of that is working anymore. Ugh😫
