Lower Spine Defect - 12/13 Week Scan

Hi All,

Can you share your experiences with potential spine or other defects that showed up on the 12 week Nuchal Scan, and how accurate (or wrong) it was? Trying to be hopeful but also realistic and arm myself with as much info.

Just saw my high risk doctor today and while he can’t rule out an issue based on the scan, he also can’t confirm an issue. He had a difficult time seeing the lower part of the spine. He was able to point some images that showed promise of “it” not being an issue but considering the difficulty of not seeing it in all scans, he didn’t want to rule it out either. Current plan is to get another scan in 2 weeks, followed by early anatomy scan and potentially amniocentesis. But of course, I’m trying to do all the research and hopeful this is a non-issue. Any experiences would be helpful!! Thank you!!
