Collecting colostrum ??

Hey mammas ! I’m a STM and I’ve recently seen a lot about colostrum collection , I didn’t with my first but I’m curious on how to actually do it ? Any tips ? Thankyou x 
- I’m 31 weeks but will start at the appropriate weeks just wanting to see how it works etc

I didn't bother. I just breastfed in the hospital and kept breastfeeding lol

I’ll be doing the same at about 37 weeks. I’ve seen some videos and it seems the best way is to hand express after a shower and collect it. I got the haakaa colostrum collector set so I can store it in those!

I’ve been doing it since I started producing at 25 weeks because i was preparing to deliver early. (Please check with your doctor or midwife because every case is different) The best time is after a warm shower/bath and hand expression works best for me. I usually do it no longer than for 5-10 minutes once a day and collect in small sterile syringes. Put them in a bag & freeze! Best of luck

I’ve heard that it only releases as much oxytocin as sex so I’m not worried about doing it “too early”. I’m 31 weeks now I think I’ll start at 35-36 weeks! I’m going to order syringes on Amazon and freeze them
