Introducing Caspian

Hannah

This is my sweet borderline preemie, born 3 weeks early exactly. He came at 12:04 am which made him a 37 weeker by a technicality. Caspian was taken right off of my chest the moment he was born and rushed out of the room for observation so I didn’t get skin to skin or any of the special first moments with him. He was born with a collapsed lung. I wasn’t able to see him for 3 hours after he was born and my first real look at him was very traumatic as he was in respiratory distress and hooked up to all sorts of machines, one being the bubble cpap. He was rushed to another hospital and I was luckily transferred there a few hours later.

Caspian’s lung has fixed itself, and he is currently off of IV fluids and the Cpap, but still has a feeding tube. We are on day 5 of the NICU and it feels like forever. I was discharged on day 3, and was able to move into the Ronald Mcdonald house for the next few days until we can hopefully bring Cas home. Right now, he just needs to prove that he can eat from a bottle and he can come off the feeding tube and come home with us.

Wish us luck as we navigate this traumatic piece of our lives. We just want him home.
