Did you get pregnant while breastfeeding and before your first period?

I’m 4 months postpartum and breastfeeding from day 1. I’m wondering if and how to tell when you’re ovulating while breastfeeding. I haven’t had a period since before baby and I’m wondering if I have to stop breastfeeding to be able to conceive again at some point. Please help.

You don’t necessarily have to stop breastfeeding but everyone’s body is different. My period returned 18 months after birth when I was still breastfeeding but my friend’s period returned at 4 months while exclusively breastfeeding. It’s impossible to say what your body will do, unfortunately. I knew I was starting to ovulate again before my period came because I was having lots of egg white cm again which hadn’t happened in months. I got pregnant right after that period on my next cycle while still breastfeeding.

yes, got pregnant with my second while still nursing (he was 11 mo old) — never had a period.
got pregnant with my third while still nursing (he was 9 mo old) — but my period had returned that month! 
i always start ovulating after my babies start sleeping through the night w/o waking to nurse!

I got my period back 4 months pp with my daughter and got pregnant at 9 months pp with a miscarriage then 11 months pp and my son is now 14 weeks old. I breastfed. After my first period I just used OPK’s to track ovulation

Yes, I did twice. Both times I was 12 months pp, still breastfeeding, and hadn't gotten a pp period.

I got pregnant with my second 4 months PP and now with my third 8 months PP. I had one period with my third and got pregnant the next month.

I got pregnant around 7 months pp while still pumping. I only knew because I took a test bc we were going out of town and I wanted to drink. I have no idea how far along I was but I ended up miscarrying. I had no idea I was ovulating.
