If you’re having a boy, are you circumcising him?

I already have two boys that are, but now I’m finding out is mostly an American thing and it’s not necessary.

I'm Dutch and circumcision in (western) Europe only happens among Muslims. We actually consider it a mild form of genital mutilation. It is not something I would ever let my child go through if it's not absolutely necessary. Each to their own of course, but it's a decision that I'm having a hard time with understanding. Just teach your boy how to wash his penis properly (which is hopefully something that parents of circumcised boys teach their children too😳). the chance of the wound getting infected after the procedure is soooo much higher than your son getting an infection because he has foreskin.

We are a family of cycle breakers! My first son is uncircumcised and the boy I’m pregnant with will also be left whole. I did a lot of research while pregnant with my first and couldn’t go through with it. My husband who is circumcised himself also agreed that we will be leaving our boys whole. Family and friends don’t understand and have made the comment here or there but we don’t care. Personally I work in a nursing home and I've seen too many 80+ year old men end up having to get circumcised due to forskins growing closed and infections... It makes me nervous for my son so I will be getting my son circumcised. I definitely understand both sides to doing it though.

This is something I been thinking about being pregnant with my first son ( I have 3 daughters) and honestly I thinking I don't want to do it, I seen all the extra stuff my sister had to do with my nephews. Plus the baby's dad isn't circumcised and he doesn't have any issues.

I have a 3 year old son who is not and we won’t do this baby either. We live in the south in the US, but my husband is from Europe where it isn’t common. Before our oldest was born we talked about it and did a lot of research. I watched videos of the procedure and couldn’t imagine doing that to our baby. The final factor was getting my husband’s opinion on if he ever wished he was- he doesn’t. I didn’t know if he would have a strong opinion on it since he grew up in the US where it is more common. He said he never felt any “pressure” to be circumcised.
Ultimately, we have never regretting leaving our son whole and he’s never had any issues from it. All of our American family and friends thought it was “weird”, but neither one of us cared. We did a lot of research and are very confident in our decision. Plus, how many people really see your kids genitals and need to know what’s going on down there?

Heck to the no! Honestly I didn’t have a problem with it until I actually watched the procedure and did some research. No way I’m putting my baby through genital mutilation.

I think it’s just a norm in society and people being brought up thinking it’s the best option when really it’s just about the pros & cons. I’m pregnant with my first baby and it’s a boy & we decided without a doubt he will remain intact. Before I ever got pregnant I always said if I have a boy I will not circumcise him, especially not to please everyone else because they think it looks better.

I have 2 boys both uncircumcised and my 3rd boy will be left whole as well ❤️ it is an unnecessary procedure done only for cosmetic reasons.

Still unsure. Haven't discussed it with husband yet. We did with our first boy without any issues but we keep running into complications with boy #2 while he's still in utero so I'm not sure I want to. I am just a little paranoid about cleaning him properly; I don't want to mishandle him on accident!
