How loud is your white noise machine?

Question

I was doing a bit of research on internet and found some controversy around using white noise machines around infants. Now I‘m scared I may impaired my babys hear with it because it is set on max when he goes to sleep and I turn it down when I come to bed… so 2-3 hours is on max, next to his crib.
What do you mamas do? Where is your white noise machine placed? How loud is it set (compare it to some familiar sound)?

*I just used an App to measure and the noise is around 85 decibels. Internet says that’s too loud even for an adult…

I do not use a white noise maschine. But how loud does it go then? Do you hear it in the next room also? I doubt that a maschine that is just for white noise would do any harm, because it most likely don't even need a speaker that loud. But if you use a regular speaker and an app or a radio for it, then you could overdo it, yes.

Between 40-60 decimals, I change it depending on what’s going on, like if we’re being loud,fireworks, during the day when I know the dogs will bark etc. and since it works for her I don’t feel the need to change. I actually only just recently downloaded a decimal reader since I saw something about white noise and wanted to check. I think it said 50 decimals is safe for long term use, and it just so happens that’s usually where I have it. 
There controversy with EVERYTHING, just do whatever you feel comfortable with🤷🏻‍♀️

Ours is like 50-60 decibels. All 3 of our kids use it, and have since babies. We are trying to wean the older 2 off of it though.

Which machine do you use? I tested mine this a decibel app. It shouldn’t be more than 65decibel. Download the app put your phone in his crib and see how much it is at.

Ours is on my bedside table. Idk how loud it is, loud enough so I can sleep (I’m the one who needs white noise) but I can still hear my 3 year old sleepily ask me weird questions at 3am.

I keep mine on the other side of her bedroom (maybe 10ft away from her head) and it’s low enough that when we sit in the chair next to it she can hear me reading stories, etc in a normal voice easily.

You can download a decibel level test. Place your phone where the baby lies and turn the sound machine on and it will automatically let you know how loud that is.

Ours is at 40ish decibels. I keep it a bit lower because he’s still in our room and I still listen for our toddler who sleeps in his own room.

Mine isn't super loud, it sits by the rocking chair across the room from the crib. I don't want normal noise to cause the baby to wake up or get so used to the loud noise if our power goes out then we won't be sleeping lol
