What to bring

My 15 month old and I are going to a 3 year olds birthday party. They are greatest people and I’ve known the mom as if I’m related to her. She says to not worry about bringing presents or toy or anything. I feel weird about going to a party for a 3 year old and not bring a gift. Do I just bring a non toy related gift and see if they open presents and just hide it in the car until then? What do I do?

Usually if someone says ‘not to worry’ about taking a gift, I take it as them just being nice and saying that. I always take a gift regardless. Whether an outfit, a book or a toy (when it’s for a young child).

I would say that “don’t worry about it” is just being nice and I would bring one. If someone said “no presents” explicitly, I take that as their wish and wouldn’t bring one.

Yeah I think she’s just being polite, but I believe most guests will bring a gift whether or not they choose to open them during the party. 
I’m not opening the presents at my two year old party, because a bunch of toddlers don’t want to watch another kid open toys they can’t have lol

I asked for no gifts for my daughter's second birthday because I really didn't want any more toys for her so I opted for a fiver party if people insisted on bringing anything just $5 in a card

I would definitely bring a gift for the birthday child even if the mum said not to! The gift is for her kid not her so she doesn’t have a say ;) She was probably just trying to be polite anyway but I find it strange to say this to bday guests. Can you imagine if all the guests actually showed up empty handed at her kid’s bday party? Pretty sad for the child :(

Bring flowers or a basket of goodies

I always bring a gift with a gift receipt. That way if they want they can return it and get something else. I would feel weird going empty handed. However, if I tell someone not to worry about it I mean it. Gifts are not necessary and showing up and spending time with us is more important in my opinion

If someone tells not to bring a gift, I always bring aomtjeing edible. Like snacks or cake or something.
