Today my fiancé and I were invited to our friends sons birthday and while there our daughter was on my fiancés lap and this boy was just hitting a balloon up into the air and then he hit it toward our baby’s face but it was quickly blocked by my fiancés hand, this boys mom got up and smacked him so hard on his arm you could hear it, he screamed and started just sobbing. She told him if he continued to cry that he would be in trouble and I said “that really wasn’t necessary, ___ is fine” she replies “well I actually like to discipline my son” and I said “do you mean traumatize? He didn’t deserve that” the WHOLE room was silent and in shock I think. In the whole grand scheme it’s literally just a balloon, even if it did tap my daughter in the face it wouldn’t have hurt her.
