Need help please how to stop doctor from deleting my records?

So after all these years I finally had the courage to report a child dentist who assaulted me. She happened to be my narcissistic mom’s friend. I wanted the records because I know she messed up my treatment but my mom laughed in my face and threatened me when I said I was going to report the dentist she said “you know she could just get rid of your records and say you were never her patient right?”. Well today I reported her and they told me to get the records but I told them I was scared she’ll get rid of them and they said if she did get rid of it then contact us ASAP. 
I really need the records it could help future doctors fix my teeth but how do I prevent her getting rid of it? I tried to request my records from the clinic but they said they need her permission she’s off work and that she’ll be back after the weekend. They didn’t allow me to get it without her permission.

I’m not sure what you can do. I probably wouldn’t tell her why you need them maybe just say you’re switching offices and want to have record of what was done. Though I’m guessing your mom probably already told her? But I’d say it’s illegal to just delete records like that so if she does just do what they said and report it asap

I’m sorry you’re having to go through all of this! Just a heads up even if she tries to delete the records they had to run your insurance for the procedures and if her records don’t match the insurance claims then that could be grounds for an insurance fraud lawsuit because her office would have had to file a claim for services rendered and if she’s showing no record of it after said claims were filed then that’s a huge lawsuit against her practice and she could loose her license! So it will play in your favor even more if she deletes your records. Also releasing your records does not depend on the doctor at all! You have 100% access to your records and the front office staff can print everything out for you. The doctor has no say so over this. If they try and hold your records for “permission” then they are wrong. I would go in personally and ask for all my records.

Say you’re switching dentists and want a copy. But your probably should have done this before reporting her. But it’s illegal to delete too. I’m sure your mom already gave her a heads up. Leave her out of this

Hi!! So sorry this is happening to you. I’m a dentist and I’ve seen some shady stuff out there. I can’t believe the immorality of some professional people. With that being said record keeping is be try important and it would be too much, I highly doubt she will delete the records. What you should be more concerned of is that she probably never documented anything going wrong while treating you if she’s as crazy as you say. She probably has no record of anything being less than perfect of her treatment and the board you reported her to will probably say they see nothing wrong in your documents. You probably would have to gather witness statements, I would do that anyways if I were you. I hope you get the help you need, I’m so sorry. Some people are rotten.

This isn't right at all. Litigation specialist here! You are legally entitled to any & all of your medical records within 7-10 yrs of the records being made- sometimes longer. If you're within the time frame, they had no right to deny you. Go tomorrow & demand your records. Explain that you've contacted an attorney & you know your medical rights. Your attorney can also request them on your behalf & if they refuse your attorney, the records can be subpoenaed but that takes time. If it's found that she deleted electronic records or damaged physical records, she can still be investigated. Know your rights & do not back down.

I had a traumatic experience with a dentist as a child. I was having 4 permanent teeth removed after recently having 4 baby teeth removed and I kept telling the dentist I could feel it and that it wasn’t numb. He refused to stop. My dad made ME apologize after the fact. 
A dentist later on had to do a filling. I was 17 and cried uncontrollably after getting the Novocain shot. That dentist, and every one I’ve seen since, has commented that I require more numbing medication and have not had a problem medicating me to the point where I am comfortable for the procedure. 
I think about sending glitter bombs to the horrible dentist. I hope he stubs his toe every day.

Your mom probably already told her, but when she returns just go and request them. Legally she can’t refuse you access to your own medical records and if she deletes or alters them in any way she can go to jail, lose her ability to practice, etc. depending on the extent of her actions. You would also be able to sue if she altered your records. Most places use electronic records now in addition to paper documents so there would be a trail if anything was changed.

I would call the office , and record the phone call. That way there is evidence of them saying you do have a record there but need her permission.
Also that sounds really odd because you have the right to your own medical records. Every time I’ve needed copies of mine or my sons records I just go in and sign something and they print them off for me .
But record it so if she deletes them you can show proof of them saying you do exist in their system
