Miscarriage, Blighted Ovum
Hello All!
A little background and this may be long…
I have an 11 mo old daughter. In June, I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. I called the Dr office and since this was a second pregnancy, they didn’t have us come in for our first ultrasound until I was almost 10 weeks (according to last period). When we went in, we found a sac with nothing in it. To make sure it was in fact a “Blighted Ovum”, they rescheduled us for 2 weeks to make sure that we were not off on our timeline. I knew I wasn’t off, and I knew if was in fact a miscarriage.
When we saw the Dr after it was confirmed a Blighted Ovum, she said that I can do 1 of 3 things for now.
1. Naturally miscarriage, no medicine and my body should do what it’s supposed to on it’s own. May take several weeks.
2. Medically induce miscarriage. Give me medicine to start the process and should start the process quicker.
3. D&C. Medical intervention where they put me under and sweep the uterus.
I opted for number 1. I was told that it should feel like a bad period. Cramps stronger than normal and heavier bleeding. It has been almost 2 weeks since we were last at the Dr. I have had light bleeding/spotting with some clots (no bigger than a dime). But other than that, haven’t had any other symptoms.
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what their symptoms were? I am just not sure if my body is naturally doing what it’s supposed to or if I will have to go back for number 2 or 3. Any insight is welcome!
Thank you!
