Tampons for 1st PP period??

I’m 7 weeks & 5 days postpartum baby #3 & I started my period this morning. Last night I was crampy & then when I woke up this morning it was bright red blood & has continued to be bright red blood all day.

I’ve never gotten my period this early with my other 2, I was closer to 5-6 months PP before it came back so I never had to question it but… it’s safe to use tampons now right? I know I couldn’t use them for lochia because infection risk.
