Needing words of affirmation/compliments

Kw

How do I go about talking to my husband about wanting more words of affirmation. He is NOT a romantic type and typically this hasn’t been a problem because I’ve been confident in myself or was “praised” by others during sports in high school or now complimented on work by coworkers. But now I’m graduated, married, and a first time mom and don’t ever get compliments. I don’t necessarily need compliments on my looks, but would appreciate any kind of affirmation of my work as a mom that works from home. My 5month old doesn’t go to daycare. So I take care of her along with working 40hrs a week and trying to keep the house together. (Tho he helps a lot with the chores around the house)

I often casually say “you’re so cute”, or “thanks for doing the dishes”, or whatever. And feel I don’t get any of that back, and hard to admit, but I feel that is something I need.

If I explained it like this to him, he would just think it’s cheesy. (He isn’t good at expressing his feelings haha)

Any tips?
