Elective Induction
Anybody with multiple kids considering an elective induction? Back story I have 2 kids aged 6 and 4. My 4 year old is on the Autism Spectrum and I can’t just leave him with “anybody” while I’m off to give birth. My sister and mom will watch him and I just feel it would be better to have something planned instead of a spontaneous labor where I’m rushing to do everything. My husband also just started a new job a month ago and I feel it would be better for all 3 working people if they could go ahead and give their employers a heads up on when they will be out. To add to it, if I go in labor at home by myself my husband or I would have to pick up my mom AND sister to bring them to watch the kids because they don’t drive. With my last birth at 40weeks exactly, we had to do all of this and I ended up showing up to the hospital 9cm. And my husband almost missed the birth because they were still getting me settled in and hadn’t let him in the room yet. He literally had to wait until a nurse unlocked the door to labor and delivery and sneak in behind her. I dilate fast, my labors go by pretty fast. Of course the elective induction wouldn’t be before 39 weeks. And I’m almost positive that I wouldn’t go in labor before the 39 weeks because both of my other kids cooked the whole 40 weeks and I ended up getting induced with one, which wasn’t a bad experience at all. What would you do in my situation? I have my 37 week appointment tomorrow and plan on asking about an elective induction then.
