Hemangiomas

Ashley

Has anyones child had a hemangioma and they had to be put on a beta-blocker for it? That’s what the dermatologist is recommending but everything in me is saying don’t do it.. but it’s on her nose so I feel like I have to. Does anybody have any experience with this?

My son has a big one on his neck. Our dermatologist also talked about this exact treatment the last time we went to see her for his eczema.

It makes me so nervous to put her on the meds. She’s only 3 months old and was a premie so everything makes me nervous 😩

Any hemangioma that is on the face needs to be dealt with, with meds. Propranolol is a very very common medicine to use for hemangiomas. I recommend joining Hemangioma parents support group on fbook. They will help you with any questions you have.

To add: my daughter was diagnosed with Kasabach Merritt syndrome and KHE. She had to receive vincristine chemo and steroids at just 2wks old starting and then on sirolimus for 1.5yrs. KHE with KMS is very dangerous and far worse than just a usual hemangioma.
