Would you be upset?

My c section is scheduled for 9/14. In talking to my husband, he asked how many nights I need to stay in the hospital and asked if he should stay there with me or just come home since the rooms are uncomfortable and don’t really have a bed for him 🤦🏼‍♀️
I am so hurt and upset that he would even consider leaving me and our newborn at the hospital. I’ve been bawling ever since. Am I overreacting? He said he was just asking because I typically complain about his snoring (I’ve been sleeping in a different room all pregnancy) so he was just wondering what I wanted 🙄

NOT OK! I’d be pissed if I just got done pushing out a baby and my husband left me to, “get better sleep.” Having a baby isn’t a woman’s job, it’s a partnership.

So the country we live in, unless you have a booked a private room in the hospital (which is CRAZY expensive and not covered by medical aid) you stay in a general maternity ward with other women once you've given birth. In these wards, your not allowed to have anyone stay with you overnight. I remember when I had our daughter 3 years ago, I was soooo upset that my husband had to leave us and he was just as upset about it. I get why you're upset, but, he was thinking of you with the snoring and having a newborn.... Men are really just "simple" sometimes with their way of thinking

I’m in the hospital right now. My daughter was born at 10:25pm and by the time we got to the recovery room and he got me some food it was after 1am. He’s staying the night tonight because of the time and how tired he is, but tomorrow he will probably go home to sleep and be with our toddler overnight. Just my personal opinion, a well rested helpful partner is better than a tired cranky partner.

I think this is a hard one for an outsider to comment on.. Personally I don't want my partner to stay in the hospital overnight as I'd rather him go home and get some good sleep as there are midwives coming in and checking often throughout the night if need be and the partner can't really do too much to help out the first night or two. I'd rather him be happy, well rested and not exhausted during the day to keep me and baby company while I'm more awake and needing the company.

I honestly probably would have felt this way with my first because I didn't know how sleep deprived we were going to be in those first few weeks. Now looking back, I think it's probably a really great decision for your husband to get rest if he can. I barely slept in the hospital and so he could let you take naps and spend time with the baby. It's more practical than romantic, but that's kind of how those first few months go

No no no. He needs to be at the hospital. He needs to be with his newborn and his wife who just had a baby. He needs to be there to help you take care of the baby. If I were you I’d tell him that you need to him stay at the hospital.

He needs to use his brain & not ask such a question ugh. Plus he can schedule an appointment with a sleep doctor and get a mouth guard for his snoring.

Y'all are lucky in Australia we are now t allowed to have our partners stay after baby is born we have to do everything on our own and it will most likely be a 3 to 4 day stay at the hospital

I’m not making my husband stay. With our first he stayed but this time around we have a 2.5 year old that’s hardly been away from us. So he will go home in the evenings and stay with him UNLESS Anything is wrong with me or baby then we agreed he would stay
