Could you forgive your mom for talking badly about you and your family a few years back

This broke my heart because I always thought my mom loves us. She was never mean to my husband and adored our son. Me and my father got into a fight and he sent me screenshots of my mom talking to my aunt and they're from several years back. 6 years ago when I got with my husband my mom told my aunt "I didn't take Jessi for a nigger lover". I can't believe she would say that! And there were so many text if her talking about me and my husband and referring to my husband as a nigger. The most recent one if from last year when my son was first born and she sent a picture to someone and said "His negro hasn't come in yet so he can stay" and referring to my son as a half breed. My husband wants nothing to do with my mom after this. My mom is saying she said that stuff a long time ago... But it still hurt!
