Is it a bad idea to wait to go to doctor(obgyn) till im 12 weeks ?

I thought they’d want to get me in right away, but scheduled me for 12 weeks which is very common. 
Not all OBs do an actual ultrasound at 12 weeks (usually done if you are high risk), they will use the fetal doppler to listen to babies heartbeat.

I don’t think it’s bad. With my first baby they wouldn’t see me until I was 12 weeks but that was 11-12 years ago so things may have changed. With my second, third and now 4th they saw me around 8-9 weeks. I think it’s fine unless you have prior health issues or a history of miscarriages or something like that.

Alot of doctors are booked months out. There are more people than there are of doctors. So if you call as soon as you find out, they will try to get you in as soon as they can, sometimes it can be a three month wait, or they will call you when a slot opens up sooner from a cancelation.

You call your OBGYN to schedule an appointment as soon as you know you're pregnant. They set your appointment usually around 8 weeks but some wait until around 10 but you don't wait to call your OB. You make the appointment immediately to ensure you get in when you need to be seen.
