best “grow with me” car seat

my baby is still in an infant seat but is outgrowing it fast! for reference he’s 22 pounds and 29 inches at 6 months. also i drive a toyota camry. can anyone recommend good rear facing seats that can eventually be forward facing, and then a booster seat down the road as well?! we need a new one before we go on a trip next month.

I have the graco slim fit (rear facing until 49in or 40lbs) but my girl is tiny so I wasn’t too stressed about the max rear-facing limits! (She’s 17lbs at 12m).
The graco extend2fit (rear facing until 49ins or 50lbs) and graco 4ever (rear facing 43ins or 40lbs) are also good!
The goal is a car seat that fits in your car (read car manual for details) and one that you will get the longest use out of rear-facing. 
Graco extend2fit would be my first pick for your kid if your vehicle permits.

It depends on your budget but Chicco, Diono, and Britax all have the best safety ratings across the board. They're more pricey, but well worth it. Once you've held one of those and then compared it to something like a Graco, you'll see why. They're made of a lot more steel. I had the Chicco nextfit for my 2nd and I absolutely loved how deep the seat was, but switched to Diono for my 3rd solely for space (they're narrow enough for 3 across in my husband's sedan when I have the minivan.)

Nuna rava or clek foonf. They both have been fantastic for us. Graco seats feel cheap, aren’t the easiest to get a proper install, and the straps suck. I despise the extend2fit we had. It was literally the worst thing ever.

We got the safety 1st grow and go one and we found it was the best as could accommodate her front facing with the seatbelt and still have the back heightened. After that we just purchased a small seat booster but it lasted up until she was about 6?

We really like our Britax One4life. If you're in the US I'd reach out to Car Seats for the Littles. They can help you find a seat to fit your needs, your car, and budget. Not every seat fits in every car correctly. Proper install is crucial. Our convertible seat fits really well in my Honda crv but not so great in my husbands Mazda cx5. We are actually having a hard time finding an infant seat that will fit behind his seat
