Afraid of pre-eclampsia

I'm 10 weeks and was put on asprin to prevent pre-eclampsia. I'm overweight so my pregnancy is considered high risk, I'm not sure why.

I'm so afraid of developing pre-eclampsia because all I think about is what if I die after or during birth? I have a terrible fear of dying and leaving my son behind because he's autistic and his father abandoned him almost 2 years ago and im.afraid he would somehow end up with his father who only saw him as a disability check.

I need reassurance, is pre-eclampsia a high fatality thing?
