Is it safe to take Metronidazole at 29 weeks?

My doctor just prescribed it to me at 500mg! Has anyone else ever taken this amount in the third trimester and baby was okay?

Metronidazole is an FDA Pregnancy Category B drug, meaning that it's  generally accepted as safe. An infection poses more of a risk to baby. And 500 mg is the standard dose of Metronidazole

it’s 100% safe. i had to take it for a bacterial infection in my first trimester and it usually comes back a few months later so i’ve taken it later on as well.

I don’t know what that is but if you want go and get another opinion. I don’t trust doctors always. A doctor prescribed me an anti depressant and told me it was completely safe during pregnancy (we were going to start trying I wasn’t pregnant yet) so went to a pharmacist and she asked if I was pregnant and I told her no not yet but We were going to start trying and she told me “absolutely not these are not safe” and she showed me a booklet that has all the grades of medication and what is and isn’t safe in pregnancy. If you want to go a pharmacy and ask them what grade the medication is and if it’s safe. I’m not one to personally take anything when pregnant im too paranoid So I don’t ever like to advise on medication. But that’s my advice 😬🙏🏻😊

I agree with blood diamond my mom got an antidepressant from her doctor not her ob & turns out in her case she got in trouble because she wasn't supposed to take it while pregnant & she was told it was fine. So it never hurts to get another opinion. FYI idk what that medication is either so it could be fine

I have been prescribed it recently but also noticed the actual long leaflet says not to use after the 7th month of pregnancy. I’m still using it as my OBGYN is a high risk specialist so I’m gonna trust she knows what’s up. But it did freak me out a bit.
