Ultrasound Question

I had at ultrasound at 7+3 for pregnancy confirmation and I heard the heartbeat, but they never gave me a heart rate. Today I had my second appointment at 10+6. He couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler since it was still kind of early for that so he did an ultrasound. Took him a while, but he eventually saw it and I did too. However, he never did the sound or checked the heart rate. He turned off the machine so fast after he saw it I couldn't even ask for the rate. I've had 2 other pregnancies and I'm pretty sure I always remember them telling me the actual heart rate. Anyone else have their doc do this?
