Are back labor contractions different then regular contractions?

I always assumed contractions were like period cramps. I’m having back pains coming in waves and wondering if it’s actually contractions?? I have no idea what natural labor feels like. I was induced with my first and given epidural almost right away. But as I’m searching it up I see there’s such thing as back labor and I’m wondering if that can be what I’m having.

Believe me, if it’s back labor you will KNOW lol. I was 6cm dilated when I arrived at the hospital with my first, I was still able to walk and talk through the contractions no problem. After a bit it started in my back and I am not exaggerating when I say I was flopping side to side in that bed like a fish out of water. It was like the worst backache you could ever imagine, constant back spasms, being stabbed over and over again, and the pain doesn’t
stop between contractions. It was just horrible. My son was sunny side up when he was born and apparently that can play a big part in it. I would rather give birth unmedicated to 8 babies at once than have back labor again.

I felt it all the way around when I had back labor. Like, I could see my whole uterus tightening but it felt crazy on my back too. I didn't have back labor with my first so I was caught off guard for sure. I only felt comfortable on my knees bent over the edge of the birth pool and legit was in that same position the entire time. That's how he was born lol

I legit went into laboring with confidence. I always felt like I had a high pain tolerance (I played a ton of contact sports through out my life). 
But when the back labor kicked in was the first time I have ever screamed out loud from pain. I have never felt anything like it. 
I’ll be honest, I couldn’t even feel my abdominal contractions because the back labor was so intense. The nurse was tracking my contractions and would make comments like “okay this contraction is going away, you should get a break here soon”…. But there was no break. The back labor was a constant pain. 
From then on I now claim that I do not tolerate pain well 😅 that shit put me in my place.

Yes back labour is dreadful! My second daughter was back labour. It does literally feel like your back is breaking. I was vomiting from the pain

For my false start, the back pain was in waves that matched up with my front contractions. It wasn't just an ache, it took my breath away. When they broke my water I had back labour. My contractions were so close together and long that there wasn't a break. Like the other ladies have said, it felt like my back was breaking but constantly. I couldn't speak or move. All I could do is focus on breathing and even that didn't dull the pain.

I had back labor and it honestly just felt like I needed to stretch my back like it was tense and would go down to my hips. My labor was quick and easy so it really depends on your pain tolerance because that was not what hurt to me and I went completely natural barely got an iv of saline in.
