Maternity leave question: how does it work ?
I am due 12/21/22 but can potentially deliver sooner since I do have am high risk and have a cerclage stitch I am in Arizona and I know we get 12 weeks of maternity leave but can I take leave early since it’s towards the end of the year and then get another 12 weeks of maternity leave for next year?

My understanding,  and how my employer did it was you got 12 weeks per 12 month period, not calendar year.

You’ll have to talk to your HR to see what they offer and when.
You could use any pto you have for the year before starting leave.

Do NOT talk to HR the moment they heard I was trying to get more than the 6 weeks required ( because the teachers could I was the first custodian to get pregnant) they made my life horrible. End ended up not offering me any leave / forcing me to quit. Find someone else in the company that knows the rules and talk to them HR is not your friend and can seriously mess up your plans.

I’d ask your manager or HR (with my first my manager was a wealth of knowledge because she had her own while employed here and managed many other moms who went through it). I know at my job I was allowed 12 weeks for the event, and the event included my pregnancy + 1 year after baby’s birth (so if I wanted to take 6 weeks at birth, go back, and take another 6 weeks when baby was 4 months old or whatever I was theoretically allowed).

If you take leave early, your maternity leave will be cut short.

You need to discuss with the HR person at your company. 
BUT if you are talking about FMLA. no you don't get another 12 weeks next year. Its 12 weeks per event as long as you've put in enough hours prior to qualify.
