How did you make your wedding invitation?

Question

Mine says our names and then says “together with their families invite you to the celebration of their wedding” then it says the date and then below that it says the time, location, etc. 
My mom changed my invitation to the traditional way which is where it says “Mr. and Mrs. ____ request the honor of your presence to attend their daughter _____ and (fiancé) wedding.” 
If I’m being honest I don’t think people make those invitations anymore… I’ve literally never gotten an invite that still uses the parents in the invitation. My parents are paying for the wedding so I completely understand using them in it… but no one does anymore you know?? 
On top of that my fiancé’s family is butt hurt about the card and says it makes them feel like they aren’t apart of the wedding at all
I just don’t know what to do!! My mom said I don’t have to go with the one she made but she also made me feel super guilty if I don’t and kept mentioning that they’re paying for the wedding 
I feel like no matter which one I go with someone’s going to be mad

I'm with your mom and traditional etiquette on this one.  Since they are paying your parents are the hosts of the event.  If you go with her wording though it should include his parents' names as well and be worded as 
Mr ans Mrs. Brian Nix request the honor of your presence to the nuptials of their daughter

Son of Mr. And Mrs. Mark Ulrich

When I got married six years ago, common etiquette still was that if your parents paid for the wedding, they were on the invite in the way your Mother wrote up. We paid for our own wedding, so I did the way you've drafted it up. If etiquette has changed that much in the last six years, go with what most people do.

There’s a ton of ways to do this- I wanted our parents names on there because of how many people were being invited just to ensure people knew who we were- and his parents are divorced so we did…
Something like “join us for the wedding of Brittany lastname , daughter of X and X and Matt lastname, son of X and Xx on Xdate at Xtime at place”

I personally don’t like the traditional wording. My parents paid for the alcohol and my dress. We paid for everything else and my in laws paid for nothing. I didn’t ask my parents to do what they did but they offered because that’s what my moms parents did for her and they wanted to follow tradition. I think it does reflect oddly on the grooms side. I get why etiquette is the way it is but it just seems to make it their event and not yours. If they feel it is their event, I would let them pay for it…but that’s just me.

It's just the invite...this may sound mean because you are in the midst of the wedding but it truly doesn't matter. As long as it isn't directly rude to someone amd gets the info across who cares. I made my own invites amd honestly can't tell you now what they said...I know thr color and basic design but no idea the details because the invites don't really matter and most if any don't remember them. Something always might make someone unhappy but the invites isn't the hill I'd fight on. Again I planned my own wedding myself with zero help from anyone and I don't even remember mine let alone any other invite I've received. It is one of those things that seem super important while planning but in the end just need to be clear amd understandable. I'd say just go with whatever your mom chose amd maybe offer to see if your future mil wants to help you with something to make that side feel less left out.

The original is fine. If you mom wants credit for paying for the wedding, she can embarrass herself at the event by telling people. The invitation should be what ever you are comfortable with.

Depends on who is paying for the wedding. Every wedding ive been to lately (within the last 5 years) has been the couple inviting people to the wedding. Not the parents.L

So we had a very small wedding but still costed around 1000$ & my (step) dad paid for it all & our wedding invites just had mine & my husbands name on them I had never even knew that people put their parents names on them. He never made me feel guilty about paying for everything, so if your mom is already guilt tripping you about invites I would rethink having them pay for it! Also I would do which ever one I wanted & not worry about my parents or his parents

Just explain you aremt ungreatful for them paying for your wedding (this is why we paid for our own) but that youd rather the invitation say what you wanted as it is a wedding for you and your fiance and both families.   Not just yours.

It’s an invitation to YOUR wedding. Who cares. Most of them get thrown out. Go with the one you like more.
