How to find a babysitter?

I dont trust care.com
How can I find a babysitter in my area, especially with reviews? I'm a single mom with no help from friends or family and I need a night to myself. My baby is 10 months old and such a good girl! 
Im in Portland OR by the way.
Also, I don't use Facebook so I won't be using that either

Word of mouth. Ask neighbors, coworkers and friends who they have used, then ask for more references if you interview a babysitter.

If you know anyone with kids in daycare or early childhood programs, you could ask them to give your number to some of the people who work there. They’ve already been background checked and have experience and they’re all massively underpaid and usually happy to pick up extra jobs. I got my first nanny job from a friend of a parent whose kid was in the daycare I worked at. I always picked up tons of babysitting gigs from the parents there too. Honestly I would still be willing to babysit for date nights here and there even though I’m now a full-time professional teacher bc babies are cute and I’m still underpaid 😅 💯

Reach out to the local high school. They might have a child care class and be able to recommend students who excelled and are trustworthy.
