Azo is a pain reliever. It won’t clear the infection. Your body can possibly clear it on its own but there is a LOT of risk with UTIs, and being pregnant you do not want to risk fevers and kidney infections.

You have the right to address your birth defect concerns with your doctor. Ask for an alternative to macrobid. Doctors are supposed to exercise informed consent and listen to your concerns, if he doesn’t then find another doctor who will hear you out. You should not be scared or hesitant of speaking freely to your doctor.

AZO only helps with symptoms of a UTI. My go-to always is D-Mannose. You can get them at any drug store or Walmart for cheap. Whenever I feel a UTI coming on I’ll pop like 5 every couple hours and drink cranberry juice and it clears it up right away every time. However, you’re pregnant and to be safe, you need to go to the docs to get put on an antibiotic. That can be dangerous if it gets through your cervix. (I have 7 kids trust me)
