My MIL is driving me insane. My baby is 7 days old today, and exclusively breastfed.

She won't acknowledge when he shows early hunger cues, or even when he starts rooting. She told me he was rooting so she kept changing positions.

She's also told me not to nurse more than 10 minutes.

I should be giving him water.

He's tethered to me.

Like I have a siamese twin.

He's nursing for comfort.

He's using me as a pacifier.

I need to give him a bottle.

I get she wants to hold him, but if I have to stay and monitor since she won't bring him to me it doesn't do me alot of good in terms of getting anything done. If I could trust her I'd let her hold him more. When we first came home from hospital I took a nap. She brought him to me screaming because he was so hungry.

I've told her numerous times early hunger cues, and to bring him to me or call me, but she won't. As a fellow mother why can't she be more supportive.

As for her she had one child. Couldn't BF because he was a nicu baby so she pumped. She also knows how important BF'ing is to me. I nursed my 1st for almost 4 years.
