Do you believe in the “Wonder Weeks”

I have seen so many women on here suggest the wonder weeks and leap theory as an explanation to an extra fussy baby. I was really interested since my baby has been extremely fussy for 3 weeks now… but when I looked it up to see what research backs it up, all i found were scientists, pediatricians and researchers discrediting it. It seems it has been discredited for some time now so I’m just curious what other moms feel about this theory.

The wonder weeks app just gives a good guide to when most babies go through those chances.

I swear by it. I had a hard time using it with my oldest because i didnt understand it but it was huge with my second baby

Lol it’s just fun for moms I think. All babies develop differently and have all different reasons for being fussy. Usually if trained professionals are saying it isn’t real, don’t trust it. But if you’re like me and just like to look for fun and “explain” things, do it!

It was spot on with fussy weeks so I felt pretty prepared when I was expecting my baby to go through a “leap” and prepared for the hard week. but developmental milestones didn’t come for months later than when it said.

Developmental leaps are real, just part of normal development. Similar to developmental milestones. All the wonder weeks app tells you is when you can expect to see some of the skills and fussy periods. There’s nothing to really “believe” however the times it gives you are estimations. My baby crawled early so went through that leap early, and the dates didn’t quite line up anymore just to use an example

They were spot on for my son, but I have never really done any real research. Usually it went something like googling “is it normal for an x month old to act crankier/sleep worse than usual” and I was met with pages on pages of “x month __” (growth spurt, sleep regression, developmental leaps)
