My mother had a stroke in April. She was in rehab from May until I brought her home in July or from rehab into the hospital for emergency surgery, then finally home the very end of July with 24 hour care. Well, it's been a nightmare! They don't show up or call off constantly. Yesterday my 530am caregiver called off at 452am and I was supposed to be at work at 7am. Mom Cannot be alone that long. She is unable to get herself food, a drink, or her pills. She can walk with a walker, but depends 100% on it. She's unsteady. Today I went to work on time my full shift. At 415pm the company CALLED to fire me because my home life is a mess & I need to be at work. I lost my job because our caregivers are too unreliable. We have already been through 2 companies and it's the same BS. The caregiver that called off was there when I received the call. She told me she was sorry and she would be here in the morning. SHE CALLED OFF AGAIN! AGAIN I would have missed work. Just pissed I lost a really good job because a caregiver could not show up to be with my mom!
