Periods after birth control ttc #4

Kate

So I stopped my birth control pill at the end of May. I have had somewhat regular “periods” since then timing-wise, but they are a lot lighter than they used to be. They start out just spotting for days and then usually I get some decent bleeding for a day or two. My suspicion is that I’m not ovulating. I have 3 healthy kids ages 5 years, 3 years, and 21 months. It has never taken me more than 3 months to get pregnant before. Any advice or similar experiences?

If they're coming regularly there's a decent chance you are ovulating. Birth control can do funny things to you and if you've been on it since having your last baby this could also be your new normal just from having them as you well know our bodies change after every baby. Definitely try tracking ovulation and see what happens and good luck

Thank you! Yeah I am going to track use my opks more consistently next month…I wasn’t consistent at all last month so I’m not sure if I ovulated.

I would track with your bbt to see if you are ovulating. It's the easiest way to figure out if you are ovulating.

It's better to, but you can try with a normal thermometer first. You just take your temp in the morning at about the same time (within an hour) and record what it is every day. Once you see the thermal shift (consistent temperatures higher than the ones before) then you can be confident you ovulated. You can Google more about it. You'll read that you should have a special bbt thermometer, but you can try a normal one first. If you can't find any clear patterns with it, then maybe a bbt one would be better.

I have to buy a special thermometer right?
