light bleeding because of birth control? or could this be something else?

i started birth control in july and my periods started off super heavy in july, august, and september. but this months period started super light. i also had sex 2 weeks before today and i got super light brown discharge 2 days after sex and it kept going until yesterday. is this lighter period normal for someone who is adjusting to birth control?
