Am I in the Wrong?
Hi everyone, my roommates are upset with me because I asked them to take out my dog and didn’t go out to a party with them.
For background, the last time I asked for help with my dog was months ago. And prior to that it was even longer.
I ended up getting sick when I saw my boyfriend, and decided not to go to the party my roommates invited me to. My boyfriend was going to come over to see me, but because we were both sick, I thought it would be best to go over to his place where we didn’t have to worry about anyone and getting anyone sick.
I can’t take my dog there, so I decided to drive myself so I can come back to take out my dog. My roommates have always told me that they’d always be willing to help with her, so I decided to ask them that if they had the time, could they take her out? They were surprised I wasn’t going to the party, to which I reminded them that I was sick and my boyfriend was taking care of me. I then said to not worry about taking out my dog, and that I’d come back later to take care of her.
My roommates ended up taking my dog out anyways. My dog has anxiety, and she peed a little when they took her out on a mat. They told me that I need to make her a priority and that she is my responsibility. They then continued to tell me that they were disappointed that I didn’t come out to the party.
I was taken aback by how they were treating me, because I’ve never treated them like that. I reached out to them this morning to talk, but they haven’t responded.
While I feel bad that I made them upset, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong. What do you guys think?
