it’s my second baby all i want is diapers and wipes, we’ve already bought him tons of clothes/ hand me downs and other than that i really just need like the bassinet and swing both are high priced items and we’re going to keep the shower small maybe like 15 people and i just want contributions towards those items.

Just have a diaper/wipe shower. Some people will still buy clothes, but it’ll be mostly diapers. You might get some cash too. There is no good way of asking for money instead of gifts.

You can say something like 'We don't need gifts but diapers and wipes would be appreciated if you would like.' Then use the money you saved to buy a swing. They're actually pretty cheap, under $100 or you can buy one 2nd hand for even less. I asked for diapers and wipes and was still given gift cards and cash so that's always a possibility still.

Honestly I’m battling this as well. I’m due with my second baby in January, I kept everything…. Literally everything from my daughter so there is nothing I need as I’ve already bought him 4 totes of clothes ranging from nb to a year. I really think more clothes would be a waste at this point and I would feel awful wasting someone’s gifts. I don’t need bottles, bouncers, swings ect I literally have everything needed … what I’m doing is throwing a “diaper party” diapers and wipes only please, if you feel you need to bring more please feel free for a gift card to XYZ places… but I’m also doing a diaper raffle. Who brings diapers will be put in a gc drawing. I hope this helps a little

My first language is not English so I don't know if it sounds good in English, but in these cases we do like a "fundrizer" or something. On the invite there is a description that" we are planning to garher money to buy "this and that", so please gift in cash.
Last time I went to a nephews bday party that had a "skifund". So basically, they asked for cash, so with all the present combined, they could buy their son a set of skies.
