How do you calculate conception date?

I’m sorry if I sound stupid… I’m just curious do you count back exactly how many weeks you are? Or do you go based off of last day of first period…
Can someone comment an example??

You cant pinpoint conception day. It's impossible. But pregnancy is measured by the first day of your last period until you get an ultrasound to confirm gestation.

Conception date is when egg and sperm met. That’s very hard to track. Most docs will go off of LMP and if you’re measuring more than a week behind or head of LMP then they’ll go off of fetal size in the ultrasound

The first day of your last period starts week 1 usually. It's technically not the day you conceived but how your due date is usually found. Due date is 40 weeks from then. If you have a regular 28 day cycle it's safe to estimate cd14 would be when you ovulated (and about when you conceived) but unless you've used opks and bbt then there isn't a more precise way.

You go off the first day of your last period. Like my last period started Sept 24th. If I got pregnant this time, I'd count from Sept 24th. Because that's when my cycle started over again. Dating scan will be a bit more accurate but generally unless you're doing scans for ovulation, they can't really pinpoint when you ovulated or the moment sperm met egg or even really when you implanted. That's why general and widely used method is the first day of your last period.
