4 month old won’t nap

Ciarra

My LO is just over 4 months and he’s hit the sleep regression. He wakes up about every hour or so at night to nurse or take a bottle before going back to sleep, but that’s not as bad as taking naps. He has the hardest time going down for his day naps. I try everything from playing white noise in a dark room to rocking him to sleep with some songs on YouTube. He used to fall asleep so easily to that. I tried laying him down in bed (dark room) and slowly massaging his body while shushing so he could calm down but he is too stimulated or overtired. I try to follow his sleepy cues like yawning or rubbing his face, but every time I walk into the dim room where he sleeps, he starts crying because he knows he needs to sleep. I also tried to get him calm and ready for a nap before he starts yawning to try and follow his wake windows, but he gets upset once I walk into the room where he sleeps. I definitely don’t want him to CIO, but sometimes I can’t help letting him cry a minute or so to see if he’ll tire himself out or not. Every nap during the day is a struggle but I’m not sure if there’s something I’m missing or should try. Also, he can roll over now and usually rolls over while sleeping and ends up waking himself up because he can’t roll front to back just yet. So I usually have to watch him on the monitor and put a rolled blanket between his arms and legs (he’s usually a side sleeper). He hasn’t quite figured out how to sleep on his stomach and has reflux/gas, so he gets uncomfortable on his belly.

Any suggestions I could try to make his nap experience less difficult?
