I can’t help but feel polls like this are made to minimize someone’s grief. I could be wrong, but polls like this feel icky.

A child. I love my husband but I could continue living, though I'd probably never truly be over it. But if something happened to my children? I wouldn't be able to go on, period.

I would walk through fire for my children I wouldn't for my partner lol .. my sister died as a toddler she got meningitis and my dad never got over it .. its been nearly 30 years and he still cries if he talks about her.

Thankfully I haven’t lost my spouse and I pray I don’t have to experience that and I go first when we are both old age. I can say I lost a child and the pain of that runs so deep it continues to break my heart everyday I live without her. I still have my son and husband to live for and I remind myself daily of that. I’m still extremely blessed to have them.

I believe I remember learning in a psychology class that losing a child is particularly damaging, because it’s our nature to protect our offspring. Not sure if I’m wording/explaining that right.
Not that losing a spouse wouldn’t be damaging. Grief is grief and everyone’s experiences are different.

My MIL lost both at the same time, 16 years ago and for her it was definitely her husband’s loss that affected her the most. 
She went crazy after that and now we don’t have her in our lives but yeah 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would go to a dark place if I lost my spouse. I would also be devastated if I lost my son.
