To go back to work or wait?

Chef Cara • Currently cook for a fine dining restaurant in Traverse City. Single, 29, chef, would love to be a mom someday.

I had breast reduction surgery Oct 3rd. During consultation back in April I was originally told 2 weeks of no work or driving with a 6-8 week recovery. Before going into surgery, my surgeon suggested 3 weeks of no work because I'm a chef.

Oct 10th I had my post op appt with the physician assistant. She asked me was I taking the full 6 weeks off. I was confused because I only requested 2 weeks off. She told me no it's actually 6 weeks of no work and 3 weeks of no driving. I would have waited on doing the surgery if I had known that earlier.

During consultation they originally were going to take off 650mg but when he came to mark me we discussed what size I wanted to be. During surgery they took off over 1,000mg on the right and 916mg off the left. I had a lot taken off which is another reason why they want me to take the full 6 weeks.

Fast forward to today, the general manager of the restaurant I cook for sends me a text asking if I'm ready to come back to work slowly next week. He is aware that I have to wait 6 weeks. I really could use the money though.

I got my last paycheck on the 5th and had everything budgeted for this month when I thought I would only need to wait two weeks. So I would of saw another check Nov 1st which would if been fine. Now I won't be back until the 2nd week of Nov and won't see a check until who knows when. I'm not sure what to do. Yes I know I need to heal but I'm also in a financial bind.
