Breast and formula feeding together?

I have a toddler who was strictly formula fed because it was easiest. I was a single parent and it was more convenient for formula, im now about to have my second and want to breastfeed and formula together. The plan would be formula during the day, if we are home, and breast at night and when we’re out. My thinking is breastfeeding at night is way more convenient and easier than getting up and making a fresh bottle every 2-3 hours, changing station at the bed, simple change, breast and sleep, then formula during the day when we are up and about. This means my other babe won’t be woken up by me walking around making formula bottles at 2am too, and it saves the hassle of pre making bottles to take out with us like I had to do before and trying to time feeds to make simple small trips or do anything really, I can breastfeed when we go out and formula when we are home. Is this unrealistic?

You can but I wouldn’t introduce formula until around 6 weeks when your milk supply is established. If baby isn’t getting breastfed in the early days to build up your milk supply you may have supply issues and you’ll also be more likely to get mastitis and clogged milk ducts.

Absolutely! What id say though is try BF at least once during the day too or pump so your milk supply stays up!

I got caught with this with my first, I trusted my mother's word when she said you can't mix them and because I wasn't making enough for a full bottle each feed I stop the breath at about 3 weeks l. I wanted to go further though. I asked my midwife this time and she said yes definitely! They recommend it

Yes you can use both formula and breast milk. Dr's recommend this all the time for moms who have a low supply of breast milk. Talk to your child's pediatrician about what formulas are best for a breastfed baby
